MOCA GA: SELECTIONS FROM THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART OF GEORGIA
South Terminal Concourse T
Curated by Hope Cohn
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia is a vital part of the arts landscape in Georgia and is devoted to the growth and legacy of Georgia artists. Museum Founder, Annette Cone-Skelton, understood the importance of art and its impact on the community and recognized the need for an arts institution in Georgia, committed to contemporary art: a place to nurture and support artists and a place to archive and catalogue the history of Georgia’s visual artists. Through her visionary leadership, MOGA GA has grown from its humble beginnings to a leading arts institution in Atlanta.
MOGA GA: Selections From the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, celebrates this important institution and provides a glimpse into the breadth of the collection, programming and the growth of the museum.
Museums play a key role in supporting artists, collecting their work, educating and inspiring the community. Like its rich soil, Georgia is deep rooted in creativity that has cultivated an abundance of talented visual artists. MOGA GA serves the unique role of connecting us to our rich artistic past while opening doors to the future. Through programs such as the museum’s Working Artists Project, Georgia artists are offered the freedom to be original, independent and share their voices through their craft.
In 2020, at the opening of this exhibition, MOGA GA marked its twentieth anniversary. The exhibition celebrates the talented artists and visionaries who have contributed to MOCA GA’s success. If you’re passing through this exhibition and headed to Atlanta for a while, we hope that you will visit MOGA GA where you will be inspired and enlightened.
