Transitions II: Georgia Artists Then and Now
10am - 5pm
In Transitions II: Georgia Artists Then and Now guest curator, Karen Comer Lowe, juxtaposed earlier and later works by a small group of Georgia artists, illustrating the development of ideas and new materials, as well as the impact of experience and the artist’s response to their environment. Comer Lowe is an independent arts advisor, having worked in the arts for 12 years and served as the Director of Exhibitions for the City of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs. She has a BFA in Art History from Howard University and an MSED in Museum Education from Bank Street College in New York.
“Tracing and studying the development of an artist can be an exhilarating adventure,” stated MOCA GA Co-founder and Executive Director Annette Cone-Skelton. “Even greater, the ‘Transitions’ concept allows visitors to examine and compare the evolution of numerous Georgia artists at one time.”
Due to overwhelming positive response to the original Transitions in 2002, MOCA GA revived the idea with this second foray into the investigation.
