Artists Photographing Artists
10am - 5pm
In collaboration with Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP) and the Atlanta Photography Group (APG), MOCA GA presented an exhibition of Georgia photographers documenting Georgia visual artists. This exhibition featured portraits created by APG photographers of other Georgia artists. Funded though a gift from the Massey Charitable Trust, the photographers developed two prints of each portrait, one going to the artist, and one that was brought into MOCA GA’s permanent collection. The exhibition kicked off ACP 8, a month-long festival that encompasses over one hundred fifty photography exhibitions, lectures, films, and events around Atlanta.
About the Atlanta Photography Group
The Atlanta Photography Group was founded in 1986 by a group of sixteen photographers and collectors. Meetings were held in members’ homes on a monthly basis to share information and to show and critique work. The first gallery exhibition was in 1988. APG moved to the Tula Arts Center in Atlanta in 1992. In 1999 the group relocated to larger quarters at 600 9th Street, in the heart of the Atlanta Photo District. APG returned to the Tula Art Center in 2002. The Atlanta Photography Group is a non-profit, volunteer organization that promotes and supports contemporary photography as a fine art within Atlanta, Georgia.
