Larry Jens Anderson: The Atlanta Years (1979-2015)

Larry Jens Anderson: The Atlanta Years (1979-2015) includes approximately 100 drawings, paintings, sculptures, videos, installations, and more created since Larry’s arrival in Atlanta in 1979. This retrospective exhibition aims to represent a major selection of the artists Larry’s work, which is largely is in response to his personal life experiences, addressing themes such as sexual identity, A.I.D.S., death, beauty, and family.
On June 24, 2015 we hosted the panel discussion, AIDS TODAY. MOCA GA presented Larry Jens Anderson along with Charles Collins, PhD Health Scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and James Hughey, Interim CEO of AID Atlanta. Together, they led an informative discussion regarding the impact and history of the disease. We also learned more about the newest developments in science and treatments.

ABOUT the Larry Jens Anderson
Larry Jens Anderson is an Atlanta-based artist with a MVA from Georgia State University. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the Southeastern United States and is included in numerous collections including MOCA GA, the Museum of Modern Art’s book collection, and the High Museum. His career has included video, painting, installations, performance, sculpture, and drawing. For over thirty years, Anderson has been a professor of art in colleges in Atlanta and currently teaches at Savannah College of Art and Design. Anderson has also curated numerous group shows across the Southeastern United States and is a founding member and curator of TABOO artist collective.
