The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) is thrilled to present the 5th installment of the biennial exhibition Gathered V: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists. Esteemed jurors Krista Clark, Gregor Turk, and Lucha Rodriguez have selected artists for this year’s Gathered exhibition in order to showcase not only the breadth of talent across the state of Georgia, but also the depth.
The exhibition has steadily evolved over the last fifteen years from its original incarnation: Within State Lines, which took place in 2006 and 2009, to Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists, 2013 and 2015, and finally, to Gathered: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists. The MOCA GA mission is fully realized within this project as artists are involved in all phases of the exhibition, including selection and review.
This year’s Gathered V exhibition will feature the artwork of 46 Georgia artists which were ardently selected from 300 applicants (comprising over 850 individual submissions, from 31 counties and 66 cities across Georgia). A wide spectrum of artwork including sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography, textiles and new media will be showcased. This year’s selections indeed rival past exhibitions, extoling the breadth and talent encompassed within the state of Georgia’s visual arts community.

"Serving as a juror for Gathered V was indeed an honor. Kudos to MOCA GA for organizing, sponsoring, and presenting this exhibition. Reviewing work by over 300 artists from throughout the state provided the opportunity to not only learn about many unfamiliar artists but also update my knowledge of the work by artists/colleagues that I know. It was a pleasure to work with my co-jurors and while we were on the same page for most of those gathered here, we differed here and there as a jury's collective voice is different than any single member's opinion.
