Bailey earned her B.F.A. (2005) in Painting at Auburn University, AL, and later her M.F.A. (2008) in Painting at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, GA. Through her combination of organic and controlled painting, Bailey explores the dualities between faith and reason, impulse and logic, excess and restraint. She describes her process as “driven by questions of a metaphysical nature such as how design and orchestration within nature affects our consciousness and how the extraordinary geometries within nature’s design demand the consideration of intelligent design as well as our notions of spirituality.”
Bailey’s awards include the AT&T Audience Award (DUMBO Brooklyn Arts Festival, Brooklyn, NY 2012), New American Paintings #94 (Dan Cameron, Juror, 2011), Grant Recipient and Finalist for Forward Arts Foundation Emerging Artist Award (2010), and the New Artist Initiative Award (Hambidge Center, Rabun Gap, GA, 2009). Her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, including solo exhibitions Cosmic Nostalgia (Hathaway Contemporary, Atlanta, GA, 2016) and Extraordinary Geometries (Rymer Galleries, Nashville, TN, 2010), and group exhibitions Among Friends/Entre Amigos (The Clemente, New York, NY, 2019) and Off-the-Wall Pin Up Show (MOCA GA 2007).
