Tom Meiss was born in Philadelphia in 1952, moved to Atlanta thirty years later, and has been photographing since junior high school. Over the last decade, Tom’s photography has won numerous juried awards. His work has been honored by being selected for the cover of the 2004 Atlanta Celebrates Photography Guide; by being chosen to inaugurate the Atlanta Photography Group’s Infocus gallery, showcasing the work of outstanding individual photographers; by being selected by curator Chip Simone to participate in MOCA GA’s “Edge to Edge”; and by having his work selected for inclusion in Inspired Georgia, a volume of photography and poetry by Georgia artists published by The University of Georgia Press.
