Laura Noel is an Atlanta native whose work often explores issues of individuality. She recently completed her MFA in photography with distinction at the University of Georgia in Athens. Several photographs from her series, Deliver Me, a portrait chronicling smokers and the spaces they have retreated to since public bans on smoking became common, were published in The Photo Review and Photography Quarterly. Julian Cox, curator of photography at the High Museum of Art, selected Noel’s work and that of four other noted photographers, to appear in the Photography Now 2007issue of Photography Quarterly, which is published by The Center for Photography at Woodstock. These images were also featured in the Southeastern Photography Triennial, at the Gregg Museum of Art and Design in Raleigh, NC. Noel’s work is included in the MOCA GA permanent collection as well as the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, LA; Gregg Museum of Art and Design, Raleigh, NC; and several corporate and private collections.
