Judy Henson completed her B.A. in art at Cornell College and her M.F.A. in sculpture at Ohio State University. After graduate school she worked for many years in the field of exhibit design for art, history and natural history museums, including the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Atlanta, GA. She was also involved in the Atlanta arts community in the 1970’s through editorial work for Contemporary Arts Southeast and Atlanta Art Papers, now Art Papers. She has exhibited often at the Atlanta Arts Festival, winning first place in sculpture in a show juried by Betty Parsons. Exhibition work has also included: the Forrest Avenue Consortium and the Heath Gallery. At the High Museum of Art, the exhibition Avant-Garde: 12 in Atlanta was curated by John Howett, Atlanta, GA; the Atlanta College of Art’s exhibition Origins and Evolutions was curated by Genevieve Arnold, Atlanta, GA; Nexus Contemporary Arts Center’s exhibited The Avant-Garde Revisisted, Atlanta, GA; the Michael C. Carlos Museum’s exhibition, Connections and Contradictions: Contemporary Art from Atlanta Collections was curated by Genevieve Arnold, Atlanta, GA and MOCA GA’s exhibited, A Tribute to the Artists of Heath Gallery).
