John Sumner is an Atlanta-based photographer and Hambidge Fellow who has been capturing the American South and its people for over 40 years. His black and white and colored photographs have appeared in regional, national and international publications (including American Photo International magazine and B&W Special issue – where his work won the coveted Silver Award). His work has been exhibited at the Rhonda Schaller Studio, NYC and the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. His photographs are in numerous public and private permanent collections, including the High Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art-Georgia (MOCA-GA), the Lucinda Bunnen Collection, and the Snite Museum of Art (University of Notre Dame). Sumner’s images offer glimpses into timeless moments of life.
