Ilia Varcev emigrated from Bulgaria to Czechoslovakia in 1942 with his family. He completed his secondary and University studies in Prague, and later fled to the United Stated in 1966. Varcev moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1976. He is a self-taught photographer, known for his work in black and white, depicting the people and architecture around him. His work is included in many collections including the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the High Museum of Art, King & Spaulding, and numerous other private and corporate collections.
