Biography

An Atlanta native, W. Chester Old attended The Galloway School, and studied ceramics and printmaking at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina. During his tenure at Penland, he founded a ceramic design studio. By the age of 19, he was exhibiting his work throughout the eastern United States.  Chester received a BFA from the Atlanta College of Art, where he began his exploration of mixed media, incorporating unusual  material into his conceptual installations.  Upon graduation he established Chester Old Inc., and began producing innovative furniture and accessories for the home, selling to and creating work for clients throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe.  Throughout his career, Chester has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards and grants. He has appeared on numerous television shows and publications, and has often served as a juror for the American Crafts Council. He has exhibited all over the country and his work can be found in many private collections.
