Lucy Currie received her B.F.A. from the University of Georgia and her M.F.A. from the University of California. She had additional study at Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA; The Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL; The Atlanta College of Art, Atlanta, GA and Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN and has studied with various artists, including Ben Smith, Jim Herbert, Frank Stella, Ben Shute and Katherine Mitchell. She has been awarded numerous grants and scholarships; the Andy Warhol Scholarship and Travel Award, the Italian Government Scholarship and a full fellowship from the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX. Currie’s seemingly simplistic paintings have been shown in California, Maine, Texas, Cortona, Italy, Pennsylvania, Florida and extensively in Georgia. She has been featured in The New York Times and in New Art Magazine. In addition to being in several private collections, Currie’s work is included in MOCA GA’s permanent collection, and she recently exhibited alongside Benjamin Jones at the Swan Coach House Gallery.
