Join our conversation with Atlanta’s top collecting experts Jane Cofer, Spalding Nix, and Anne Tracht featuring MOCA GA’s own director Annette Cone-Skelton moderating. The discussion will focus on how collections are started and how they grow and evolve over time.

THE PANELISTS

JANE COFER worked with the High Museum of Art on Elton John’s collection. This inspired Ms. Cofer to form Art Matters LLC: an art collection management company, which serves to consult, catalogue and appraise art for private collectors and corporations. . She is a current board member of Atlanta Celebrates Photography and is active in the High Museum of Art’s Circles Salon. She has served as a board member for The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) in Atlanta, GA and the Hambidge Center in Rabun Gap, GA.

SPALDING NIX highlights the best of contemporary art from abstract artists like Katherine Sandoz and Sally King Benedict to more traditional realists like Marc Chatov and Sarah Lamb. In addition to dealing art, Spalding is an appraiser valuing personal property, art and antiques. As an art advisor, Spalding assists individual and corporate clients like the Fortune 500 company Printpack in navigating the art world by offering confidential and objective advice in the acquisition or sale of fine and decorative art.

ANNE TRACHT is President of ConsultArt. She holds a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and, before joining ConsultArt, worked at Solomon Projects in Atlanta and Guggenheim Asher Associates in New York. Anne serves on the boards of numerous Atlanta art and civic organizations including Midtown Alliance, Atlanta Metropolitan Public Art Coalition (MPAC) and the Judith Alexander Foundation.

Moderated by ANNETTE CONE-SKELTON. Co-Founder, President, CEO, and Founding Director of The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA). Cone-Skelton is highly regarded as one of Atlanta’s most accomplished artists and arts administrators. She has over 30 years of combined experience as an artist, educator, curator, editor, owner of an arts advisory firm, and as director/founder of MOCA GA. Her work has been exhibited and is held in the permanent collection of some of the nation’s top museums. She is the recipient of numerous awards and has been featured in both local and national publications.
